LOW-COST AIR TRAVEL TO BERGERAC: Many of our guests are now taking full advantage of flying to nearby Bergerac airport [just 18 miles away], thanks to EIGHT different routes now being offered by two budget airlines. Flybe.com [ www.flybe.com ] has five routes - from Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds-Bradford and Southampton, while Ryanair [ www.ryanair.com ] is flying in from East Midlands/Nottingham, Liverpool and Stansted. If you live near major regional airports such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Belfast etc, it is worth checking if there are connecting low-cost flights to the above eight ‘hub’ airports. For example, the number of weekday and Saturday flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Southampton airport make it extremely feasible. Alternatively, there are low cost flights from the other airports not too far away from us - Bordeaux or Toulouse. |
The road network in France is, for the most part, both of a high quality and has an uncongested motorway system. This makes the option of travelling to the Dordogne by ferry and car a plesent possibility.
Most of the large ferry operators offer regular sailings to Roscoff, St Malo and Calais from a range of ports all over Britain. Check the websites of: P&O, Brittany Ferries, Condor and Hoverspeed for availability and to book tickets.
In
addition to channel ferry crossings, the Channel Tunnel offers a speedy route
from Dover to Calais.

travelling by train
Couze is deserved by train from Bordeaux, Bergerac, Paris etc..

Once in the area, follow these indications :
Take
the “départementale 660” between Bergerac and Sarlat. At Port de Couze,
cross over the Dordogne , direction “Cahors”.
After
the bridge, in Couze, you will see on your right, the “café des Moulins”
and on your left the Mairie and the school :
take the 1st street on your left (rue du docteur Perperot),
which is just after the “mairie” and the school. (Les Cottages de Toutifaut
are distant from that point 1 km)
About
300 m ahead, turn right direction Toutifaut (route de Terrefort). Follow the
hair pin bend.
After
the cemetery, on your right, you will see a wooden
surface track (go straight some more) and then a second, 600 m further,
with an indication “Toutifaut”,
turn right in that road which is just behind
and 20 meters ahead on your right again you will find the entrance of the Cottages
